As you know Consular services in Europe have just been reorganised and focused in Duesseldorf. This leaves the large ex-pat comunity in Vienna without local support. On the website it says: "The merger of passport operations from the countries listed above has been carefully planned, and is being managed to meet our applicants' needs." But as you know there are technical and administrative problems. As a Uk national and tax payer I recent the fact that I cannot speak to a representative directly by telephone but have to use a commercial service at a premium rate - which is inadequately informed anyway. In my case they claim to have no record of a passport application despite the fact that I have received a certificate of delivery. May i ask what the FCO is doing to sort out the problems at Duesseldorf and enhance the access for UK citizens and taxpayers? Surely we should be able to call someone to see if our application has arrived and is being processed? - or ask for an explanation where we receive conflicting signals? Show less »
